What it answersFind a company, get its record
Built for client forms that suggest companies while the user types, and fill the legal identity and billing address on pick. Web apps, AI agents and automation flows all use the same API.
Spanish company names
Prefix- and typo-tolerant search over every company in the commercial register (BORME), current and former names, with status and registered address. Updated every business day.
Spanish CIFs
A valid CIF, bare or as an ES VAT number,
resolves to the company's record. The register doesn't publish
CIFs, so this answers through eInforma, once it's enabled.
EU VAT numbers
Prefixed VAT numbers from other member states are checked and resolved through VIES (name and address where the member state discloses them).
GET /v1/coverage tells you which of these this
deployment answers right now, so your interface can show the
search only where it works.
How to use itThree steps
-
Get an API key
Each application gets its own key, one per environment (for examplemy-app-productionandmy-app-staging). Ask the Origen team; keys are shown once, so store yours as a server-side secret. -
Call it from your backend
Send the key as a bearer token. Never call the API from a browser: the key would leak.curl "https://company-directory.origen.studio/v1/companies/search?q=recargas+punto" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $COMPANY_DIRECTORY_API_KEY" -
Handle the answers
Errors are always{ "code": "E_…", "message": "…" }with fixed messages, safe to log. Respect429: readRetry-Afterand theRateLimit-*headers that come with every keyed response.

Ground rulesGood to know
- No personal data. Natural persons' ids (DNI, NIE) are refused for every source, and company officers are never stored. Sole traders are not covered.
- Attribution. Data from the commercial register carries “Fuente: BORME / BOE”; show it where you display that data.
- Blanks never overwrite. A source that doesn't know a field leaves it empty; fill only the fields that come back non-empty.
